The Islanders Business Club was in full swing for Military Appreciation Day on Veterans Day. With more than a 1,000 military personnel in attendance, the IBC opened its doors to a number of service men and women, who served as honored guests at the pre-game event in the Nassau Coliseum Expo Hall.
"It's wonderful that the Islanders have invited some of us to this event before the game," said Lt. Col. Mary Ann Cline of the 106th Rescue Wing. "It means a great deal to service members that a sports team has recognized the contributions we make to the country. We have a lot of Wing members who are avid Islanders fans."
Also serving as a special guest was Best Buy, which came with an enticing deal. IBC members were allowed to sign up for a free Blackberry Curve that can be picked up at the next IBC event on November 26th. In addition, Best Buy also brought Guitar Hero II for kids in attendance to enjoy. Austin Gorton won an Islanders third jersey after he bested Guitar Hero II unbeaten specialist Dave Fischbinder.
As always, Executive Director of the Islanders Business Club Mike Bossy was present, mingling with the valued IBC members.
"The Islanders organization put on a fantastic display for Military Appreciation Day and we're glad the IBC could play a small role in it," said Bossy. "We look forward to seeing members on the 26th as a lead up to Thanksgiving, when the IBC’s version of ‘speed networking’ is introduced, starting at 5 pm.”
